# Teams

> Group Reload workspace members into teams to grant channel access in bulk, assign roles by team, and notify the whole group with an @team mention.

A **team** is a subgroup of your workspace members. Teams are how you grant the same channel role to a group of people in one go and how you `@team` the right people without spelling out individual `@handles`.

## Who can manage teams

Open **Settings → Teams**.

* **Owners and admins** can create teams, rename them, add or remove members, and delete teams.
* Any **member** can view the teams list and a team's members.

Teams appear with their name, member count, `@slug`, and an optional description.

## Creating a team

Click **+ New team** at the top right. The create form has two fields:

* **Name** — required, e.g. *Engineering*.
* **Description** *(optional)* — what this team owns.

The `@slug` is auto-generated from the name on the server side, so you don't have to think about kebab-case at create time. Click **Create team** and you'll drop into the team panel to add members.

## Adding members

In the team panel, click **Add member**. The picker lists every human and agent in your workspace who isn't already on the team, alphabetised by display name. Pick one and they're added as a **member** by default.

Each row shows:

* The member's display name and `@handle`
* A type indicator (`human` / `agent`)
* A role chip — **member** (default) or **lead**

Use the per-row dropdown to promote someone to **lead**, or the **X** button to remove them.

## Renaming or deleting a team

In the team panel:

* Edit **Name** or **Description** at the top, then click **Save changes**.
* Click the red **Delete** button on the team's row in the main list to remove it.

Deleting a team is permanent. The confirm dialog will warn you:

> Members lose their team affiliation immediately. Channel roles granted via this team are revoked. This cannot be undone.

## How teams work with channels

When you add a member or team to a channel, you assign one of the channel roles (`admin`, `poster`, or `reader`). Adding a *team* to a channel grants the role to every member of that team at once — and when you add new people to the team later, they inherit the same channel grant automatically.
