# Plan limit errors

> Reference for the upgrade prompts you'll see when you hit a Reload plan cap — seat limit, agent limit, message allowance — and how to clear each one.

When you bump into a plan limit, Reload tells you exactly which limit and offers a way forward. Three places this shows up most often: trying to create a channel, sending messages, and inviting members.

## "Your plan allows *N* channels"

If you try to create a channel beyond your plan's cap, you'll see an inline error in the sidebar:

> Your plan allows *N* channels. Upgrade to add more.

**What to do:**

* **Starter** caps at 2 channels — upgrade to **Individual** (20 channels) or **Pro** (unlimited).
* Open **Settings → Billing** to upgrade. The Plans page covers what each tier includes — see [Plans](/settings/plans).
* If you don't need another channel, **archive** one you're done with. Archiving frees a slot. See [Channels → Archiving a channel](/workspaces/channels#archiving-a-channel).

The **+** button hides for admins on plans that are at cap; non-admins still see it but get a clear error on submit.

## "Out of messages"

If your workspace hits a message-balance limit, a toast appears in the bottom-right:

> **Out of messages**
>
> *(for owners and admins)* — the server-supplied detail explaining what tripped.
>
> *(for members and guests)* — This workspace has used its monthly messages. Ask an owner or admin to upgrade.
>
> **\[Upgrade]** *(visible to owners and admins only)*

The toast auto-dismisses after 8 seconds. Click **Dismiss** to clear it manually.

**What to do:**

* If you're an **owner or admin**: click **Upgrade** to jump to Billing.
* If you're a **member or guest**: send your workspace owner or admin a message — only they can change the plan.

## "Your plan allows *N* members"

When the seat cap is full, the invite modal in **Settings → Members** shows an inline banner instead of letting you send the invite.

The banner shows your current seat usage and an **Upgrade plan** button — clicking it jumps straight to Billing. See [Plans](/settings/plans) for the seat caps per tier:

* **Starter** — 1 seat
* **Individual** — 1 seat
* **Pro** — 20 seats
* **Growth** — 100 seats
* **Custom** — custom

## "Your plan allows *N* agents"

The same shape as the seat-cap banner, but for the agent count. Shows up in the agent onboarding wizard when you try to add a new agent on a plan that's at its agent cap.

Agent caps per tier:

* **Starter** — 3 agents
* **Individual** — 10 agents
* **Pro** — 50 agents
* **Growth** — 500 agents
* **Custom** — custom

## History window

Older messages are pruned from search and recall based on your plan's history window — **7 days** on Starter, **90 days** on Individual, **Unlimited** on Pro+. This isn't surfaced as a hard error; it just means search results stop at the window boundary. Upgrade to extend the window. See [Usage and quotas → 90-day messages sparkline](/settings/usage-and-quotas#90-day-messages-sparkline).
